Tim Atkin MW to compile inaugural Ribera del Duero Report

We are delighted to be welcoming Tim Atkin MW to our region as he creates the inaugural Tim Atkin MW Ribera del Duero Report, a definitive overview of the Ribera del Duero wine region and its producers. The trip will also form the basis of Tim’s annual Top 100 Selection of Ribera del Duero wines, a carefully curated collection that represents the best of our region’s incredible diversity and quality.

Ranging from red and whites, Cosecha and Crianza to Reserva and Gran Reserva, with and without representation, the top selected 100 wines will be unveiled at the Ribera del Duero Top 100 Tasting in the autumn, and will subsequently be used for all UK marketing activities including PR, trade training and tastings, and retailer promotions over the next twelve months.

The Top 100 selection will also be available to view, complete with tasting notes, on riberadelduero.es/uk.

“It’s really fantastic to have Tim back in the region”, says Pablo Baquera Peironcely, Marketing Director of the Regulatory Board of the Ribera de Duero D.O. “We have put together a full and exciting schedule which will see him taste over 660 wines both at the Consejo and at our wineries, and he will meet almost 60 producers. His challenge will be to select just one hundred!”

Tim has been a regular visitor to Ribera del Duero for several years, meeting with winemakers and tasting wines from many of the region’s bodegas to create his annual Ribera del Duero Top 100 Selection. Even in the midst of the pandemic, Tim was able to taste over 400 wines and meet with more than 30 producers over Zoom to compile the 2020/21 report, which is now available to purchase via his website.

Highlights from Tim’s trip can be found on Twitter at @DORiberaUK and Tim’s own account @timatkin. He has been visiting the whole region from East to West, dedicating time to visiting as many vineyards and wineries as possible.
