March 7th, 2023 - Ribera del Duero recently held an event to find its new ambassador in Western Canada. This event took place on March 6th at the Vancouver Club, where trade professionals from the wine industry were invited to participate in a day full of activities and tastings.

The event began with an exclusive masterclass from 10am to 12pm, hosted by Véronique Rivest, 2nd Best Sommelier of the World 2013. During this session, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the Ribera del Duero wines, their history, production process, and more.

The event continued with a trade tasting session, where all trade professionals could taste 25+ different wines from the region and learn more about its wineries, history, and culture.

After the masterclass, the sommelier competition began, where participants were tested on their knowledge of the Ribera del Duero D.O. The winner of this competition would go on to become the Western Canada Ribera del Duero ambassador.

More than 50 trade professionals attended the event, and after a tough competition, Sean Nelson was crowned the winner and became the Ribera del Duero ambassador in Western Canada. This title will give him the opportunity to represent the region's wines in events, tastings, and activities throughout the country.

But the prize did not end there. The winner also received a trip to visit the beautiful Ribera del Duero region, where he will have the opportunity to learn more about the wine production process, visit wineries, taste different wines, and experience the culture and gastronomy of the region.

Overall, this event was an excellent opportunity for Ribera del Duero to showcase its wines to trade professionals in Western Canada and to find an ambassador that will promote the region's wines and culture throughout the country. Congratulations to o Matthew Landry and Ian Casterton for their 2nd and 3rd position, and to Sean Nelson for winning the competition.
