Forty years of life and wine. Forty vintages. Ribera del Duero celebrates four decades of history. On July 21, 1982, the "Retiro" Metro station, next to the Parque del Retiro in Madrid, was the scene of the birth of what is now an internationally renowned Designation of Origin.

Intense and creative pages in the history of a wine region that now brings together 307 wineries and nearly nine thousand winegrowers. Able to create a way of living, enjoying and understanding wine: the trend-setting Ribera Spirit.

To commemorate this 40th anniversary, the Regulatory Council of the Ribera del Duero has designed an agenda of events that will start on July 23 in Peñafiel, a town in Valladolid firmly linked to the history of the D.O. that hosts a good number of wineries and is also a reference as a top wine tourism destination. In the emblematic Plaza del Coso there will be concerts, activities and proposals for all audiences, which will be free of charge.
